MDM Architect
Architect product and enterprise master data solutions for clients, gather requirements with the business, and lead an offshore delivery team from design to go-live.
About the role
You will own the architecture of master data programs for our clients, with a focus on product and customer data. You run the requirement workshops, turn what the business needs into a data model, match strategy, and integration design, and then lead a blended onshore and offshore team to build it. Some clients run a commercial MDM platform; others need a custom MDM solution built on their cloud data platform. You are comfortable designing either, and you stay close enough to the build to review the work and make the hard calls yourself. This role is based in Dallas and works on site with clients when needed.
What you will do
- Lead requirement gathering with business owners, data stewards, and IT: run workshops, document current state and pain points, and turn them into clear functional and technical requirements
- Design MDM solutions across domains such as product, customer, supplier, and location: data models, hierarchies, match and merge rules, survivorship, and golden record strategy
- Architect product mastering solutions: product hierarchies and taxonomies, attributes and classifications, variants and bundles, and syndication to ERP, e-commerce, and downstream systems
- Design and build custom MDM platforms on cloud data stacks where a packaged tool is not the right fit, including matching and survivorship services, stewardship workflows, and APIs
- Lead and coordinate an offshore delivery team: break work into clear tasks, run daily handoffs across time zones, review designs and code, and hold the team to quality and delivery dates
- Define integration patterns between the MDM hub and source and consuming systems using APIs, event streaming, and batch pipelines
- Set standards for data quality, data governance, security, and auditability in the MDM solution
- Present architecture options and trade-offs to client architects and executives, and mentor consultants on our team
What we look for
- Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise master data management programs in an architect or lead role
- Hands-on product mastering experience: designing product master data models, product hierarchies and taxonomies, attributes and classifications (such as GS1 or UNSPSC), and product data syndication to ERP, e-commerce, and downstream systems
- Hands-on experience with at least one MDM platform such as Reltio, Informatica MDM, Stibo STEP, Semarchy, Profisee, SAP MDG, or Microsoft Master Data Services
- Proven record running requirement gathering sessions and turning business needs into data models and solution designs
- Experience leading offshore or distributed delivery teams, including planning work, reviewing output, and managing across time zones
- Strong data modeling and SQL skills, and experience integrating MDM with ERP, CRM, and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure
- Working knowledge of data quality, data governance, and data stewardship practices
- Clear written and spoken communication with business and technical stakeholders
- Able to work from Dallas, TX and travel to client sites as needed
Nice to have
- Experience building custom MDM platforms: entity resolution and matching engines, survivorship logic, stewardship user interfaces, and MDM APIs on a cloud data stack
- Python or Java for matching services, data preparation, and API development
- Experience in retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, distribution, or life sciences
- MDM platform certification (Reltio, Informatica, Stibo, or similar)
- Consulting, pre-sales, or solution-shaping experience
